Annoying People in the Library
I have just managed to read 27 pages of Mary Ryan's essay, and type my previous blog post while listening to the people next to me in the library loudly laughing, having phone conversations, and chatting amongst themselves. The Bill of Rights does give the right to free speech, and as the article we just read shows, social associations can have positive effects for social change. However, when such speech and social associating consists of describing the wild events of last weekend while snacking on corn chips, I think society would be better served by silence.
