Agree or Disagree? (Class Freewrite)

"It was evident to him [the little boy] that the world was composed and recomposed in an endless cycle of dissatisfaction."

I would agree with the little boy's sentiments on this matter.  I believe there is a difference between people being endlessly dissatisfied with their lives, and the world collectively being dissatisfied with itself as a collection of individuals and generalized social patterns.  Ultimately, dissatisfaction is the seed of progress.  If people were constantly satisfied with the state of the world and their societies, nothing would ever change for the better.  Dissatisfaction is the seed of progress.  Not being satisfied with technology, the state of our cities, our states, our nations, our laws is what leads individuals to demand change, and ultimately their collective efforts are what make changes in the world itself.  I believe that individuals can be happy with their overall individual lives, and yet be dissatisfied with the state of society and the world.   While this element of dissatisfaction can be seen in either a negative or positive light, I think that the little boy is correct in recognizing that dissatisfaction is a major agent in altering the composition of the world.
